YUST RANCH GRAVEL PIT
EXHIBIT E
RECLAMATION PLAN
Yust Ranch Reclamation Plan is to reclaim the phases as the mining operations progress to the
west. The mining plan is broken out into six phases and upon receipt of the 112 permit, the
operations will move into phase 2 and reclamation of phase 1 (the existing 110 permit area)
will begin. No more than 13.04 acres will be disturbed following the receipt of the 112
permit. Mining will move into Phase 2 of the mining plan and reclamation will begin on the
phase 1 during the mining process of phase 2. The high walls will be laid back at a 3:1
backslope and topsoil will be placed at a minimum of 4" before grass drill seeding the area.
During the original conversion application will be confirmed of mining the final slopes at 3H:
1V slope. 3H:1V backslope will be achieved during the mining process for applicant will mine
to 3:1 slope.
The northern mining boundary four four phases will be the last to be mined in order to
maintain a visual barrier. The northern boundary will be maintained by weed control annually
and will be reslopped so it is not a high-wall. This will provide a visual barrier.
Topsoil from stripping activities will be stockpiled (Exhibit D) and seeded along the sides of
the individual phased areas. Following mining activities, the soil will be placed on backslopes
and the pit floor areas. Mining to a 3:1 will automatically achieve the desired reclamation of
a 3:1 slope.
The Soil Conservation Service provided a plan for topsoiling and seeding that we will follow
(attached). Maximum disturbed area at any one time will be 13.04 acres. Again, the type of
reclamation will be a slope of 3:1 achieved during mining phase. Reclamation of the affected
land will be to return to pre0mining rangeland. The surrounding land used is nteh area is
also agricultural rangeland.
Grand County Weed control as well as several other qualified/certified reclamation/weed
control individuals have visited and evaluated the Yust Pit. It was stated by Amy Snieder from
Grand County Weed control it is one of the cleanest sites she has seen. Confirmed by the
estimates and statements of other qualified individuals. Please see a copy of the Noxious
Weed Management Plan. The reclamation seed provided will be recommended by the NRCS -
Middle Park Conservation District; Mark Volt. The selected plant varieties and suggested mix
will be recommended and considered desirable reclamation by the Division. Desired
reclamation to return the post-mining site to agricultural rangeland.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife confirmed the current property consisting of irrigated hay fields
and sagebrush pastures. Efforts will be made by Grand Gravel to return and re-establish the
high agricultural and wildlife values of the Yust Ranch during and after mining. Reclamation
efforts to reseed native grasses will allow wildlife to continue to use the Yust ranch year
YUST RANCH GRAVEL PIT
112 CONVERSION APPLICATION
M 2000-014 Page 5
