Fuels and lubricants for equipment are stored in the fuel and in the generator buildings.
Adequate secondary containment is in place to contain the largest spill, per EPA regulations,
and to keep it from reaching surface waters of the US.
During periods of temporary cessation designated chemicals will either be securely stored
within the EPFs and secondary containment, or removed from the site for the duration of the
cessation. No designated chemicals will be disposed of onsite during any temporary cessation.
When the site enters the reclamation phase all designated chemicals remaining will be
removed from the site and returned to the manufacturer or disposed of offsite according to the
manufacturer's recommendations and Federal, State, and local regulations. Reclamation will
then be completed according to the approved reclamation plan. No designated chemicals will
be disposed of onsite when the permit area is reclaimed.
The mill facility does not discharge any additionally generated waters from the permitted site
and underground water is monitored. Details are included in Sections 10 and 12. Due to site
design, storm water is not anticipated to ever contact designated chemicals and is either
diverted from the permitted area by berms or contained within the permitted area by the lower
dam, which could be considered tertiary containment.
7 FACILITIES EVALUATION (RPF)
EPF 1- Mill buildin
All chemicals for processing of ore are stored within this building. Since the building is
constructed with concrete floors and stem walls, containment exceeds requirements for all
containers by greater than 300 percent.
Chemical storage (dry and liquid) is secure and within secondary containment in the mill
building. The gravity and flotation extraction methods used in the process do not include the
use of any cyanide or mercury, as these chemicals are not associated with processing.
All chemicals are stored in their original containers on pallets off of the floor level with spill
trays underneath the pallets. These trays would contain any spillage created during normal
daily drawings. Any spills that would exceed this containment would be contained within the
mill building.
In the event spillage, spill kits are immediately available within the building.
EPF 2 - Diesel Storaee
Diesel is stored in a 10,000 gallon manufactured skid - mounted single wall steel tank above
ground storage tank. This tank is set into a concrete secondary containment area, and is inside
4
