• Excess material from the construction of the sediment pond and sub-excavation
of the gob pile was placed in the cove~ll pile. The surface soil horizon within the Rivra
unit and the Torriorthent unit (rock outcrops excepted) was salvaged for topsoil and
stockpiled. Alluvial material was salvaged from the foundation of the pile and placed in
stockpile. Approximately 5,000 cubic yards of clluvial material was salvaged to
provide final cover for the refuse pile.
A berm was constructed around the topsoil stockpile to contain any topsoil that
may erode prior to the establishment of stabilizing vegetation. A silt fence was installed
at the low point(s) in the berm to relieve accumulated run-off.
The areas disturbed, including the topsoil stockpile, cover soil stockpile, rock
stockpiles, road fill, berms, pond slopes and diversion ditches that are not riprapped,
were promptly seeded with the stabilization seed mix.
Final reclamation included placing cover material and topsoil on the gob pile and
construction and re-construction of the permanent diversion and collection ditches.
• Seedbed preparation consisted of extensive roughening by track hoe gouging
(pocking). Extensive roughening provides for increased moisture retention and
favorable micro sites for plant establishment.
Reclaimed areas are seeded and mulched as specified in Section 3.5.
RN-05 2-17 09/07
