SOIL LOSS COMPARISON - MUNGER CANYON MINE
RECLAIMED VERSUS BASELINE (ADJACENT) CONDITIONS
The following calculations are presented to determine if untreated drainage from the reclaimed
Munger Canyon Mine area is contributing suspended solids to stream flow or runoff outside the
permit area in excess of pre- mining levels. One sediment pond collects run -off from the reclaimed
refuse disposal area. Run -off from other reclaimed areas are treated by alternate sediment control.
The baseline data for comparison are considered to be those conditions that exist in the adjacent
areas. The adjacent areas in this case are the Sagebrush Reference Area for the refuse area, and the
Juniper Woodland adjacent area for the portal area. The condition of the Sagebrush reference area
and reclaimed refuse area are presented in detail in the Cedar Creek Associates December 2013
Revegetation Evaluation. Data for the reclaimed portal area is also presented in the Cedar Creek Report.
The data for the Juniper Woodland adjacent area is obtained from the Munger permit, Table 4.8 -13.
The Juniper Woodland area will be compared to the Munger Mine Portal area.
Sagebrush Adjacent
Baseline
Baseline
Total Perennial Cover +Rock +Litter
84.4%
73.7%
Perennial Cover:
Perennial Cover:
Grasses, Grasslikes
Grasses, Grasslikes
21.3%
2.5%
Forbs
Forbs
1.50%
0.17%
Shrubs
Shrubs
6.3%
16.8%
Other - Rock
14.3%
8.8%
Litter
17.0%
45.4%
24.0%
Total Perennial Cover +Litter
64.9%
Cano Shrubs
Total Perennial Cover +Litter
16.8%
Ground Cover at Surface 64.9 - 16.8
Canopy Shrubs + Trees
48.1%
Juniper Woodland Adjacent
Baseline
Total Perennial Cover +Rock +Litter
84.4%
Perennial Cover:
Grasses, Grasslikes
21.3%
Forbs
1.50%
Shrubs
6.3%
Trees
14.3%
Other - Rock
17.0%
Litter
24.0%
Total Perennial Cover +Litter
67.4%
Canopy Shrubs + Trees
20.6%
Ground Cover at Surface 67.4 - 20.6
46.8%
M(viii) -4
TR -25 04/14
