rVapeabad Seneca II aline <br />ENERGY PO Box 670 <br />36600 Routt County Road 27 <br />Hayden, CO. 81639 -0670 <br />Seneca Coal Company, LLC. <br />September 16, 2014 <br />Jason Musick <br />Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety <br />1313 Sherman St., Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />RE: Seneca II SL -6 Phase III Bond Release — Well Abandonment Report for USGS Monitoring Wells <br />Mr. Musick: <br />Seneca Coal Company is submitting the enclosed Well Abandonment Report for four water monitoring <br />wells as a part of a requirement for approval of the SL -6 Phase III Bond Release. <br />The wells were originally drilled by the US Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Bureau of <br />Land Management (BLM) and the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, Mined Land Reclamation <br />Division. Monitoring data were used to study climatologic, soil- water, ground- water, geologic, surface - <br />water, and water - quality to help describe the hydrogeology and geochemistry of an area that is being <br />surface mined for coal (USGS Open -File Report 92 -122). While Seneca Coal Company later assumed <br />responsibility for reclamation of the wells, there were no permitted monitoring requirements. The four <br />wells are referred as the "Bond Creek Wells" in the USGS report. <br />The submittal package includes the following: <br />• CDRMS Coal Exploration Drill Hole or Well Abandonment Report <br />• Hole Plug and Abandon — Cementing Table (Western American Drilling, Inc.) <br />• US Geological Survey Open -File Report 92 -122 <br />Should the CDRMS have any comments or concerns regarding this submittal, please contact me at your <br />convenience. <br />4l Sin &---- <br />B.
