TECHNICAL REVISION FOR PUEBLO EAST PIT M-1986-015
September, 2014
Revised Reclamation Plan for Phase 2 Stockpile
Reference:TR Exhibit F
The present reclamation plan for this stockpile area called for the soil to be removed to slightly
below existing grade, a low point at the southeast corner of the area, and 3:1 slopes on the
north and west side up to existing grade. It was to be a bowl shape area draining out to the
southeast corner.
This revised reclamation plan calls for the proposed grade to be six to eight feet above existing
grade with 4:1 slopes back down to existing grade on the north, west, and east sides. Runoff
will flow to the south with a minimum grade of 2%. The south side will be reduced down to
existing grade where a drainage swale will carry runoff to the west.
Low areas over the slurry wall will be filled in.
The order of operation to accomplish this reclamation is:
• Establish original elevation at the south side of the existing overburden stockpile located
in the northwest corner of Phase 2.
• Then remove the three crossings over the slurry wall by pushing material from south to
north, filling in holes and establishing elevation for drainage.
• Bring up elevation in the north east corner of the pile.
• The outside slopes of the stockpile area will have slopes of 4: 1. A drainage ditch will be
to be constructed 10 feet north of the slurry wall to carry water to the west and then
south to the river. This will drain approximately 70-80% of the water from the pile to
the west.
• Drainage on the west side of the pile will have to be diverted from the north to south
along the Paradiso and Maples' Property.
• The remaining 20% of the water from north and east of the pile will be diverted to the
east side of the pile to a drainage ditch constructed next to the Cooper and Winters
fence line. This will carry water to the south of the Winters Property and then east to
Phase 2.
• This grading project will be completed during September and October, 2014. An
excavator and dozer will be used.
• In preparation for grass seeding, the area will be disked to loosen the soil.
• Seeding will occur in late October to November, 2014 using the seed mix noted in the
permit. Straw mulch at two tons per acre will be crimped in. This mulch will prevent
significant wind and water erosion until the seed can fully germinate in the early spring
of 2015.
