COLORADO
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
September 8, 2014
Mr. George Patterson
Energy Fuels Coal, Inc.
P.O. Box 459
Florence, CO 81226
RE: Southfield Mine, C- 1981 -014, GEC road and ditch maintenance
Dear Mr. Patterson:
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) understands that Energy Fuels Coal, Inc.
(EFCI) may need to conduct maintenance activities along the road and ditch section located within the
GEC Strip Mine (revoked permit number C- 1981 -037). The road and ditch section to be maintained is
located within the permit boundary of the GEC Strip Mine, beginning at the GEC Strip Mine entry gate
and ending at the east edge of the reclaimed GEC Mine pit where the road enters the Southfield Mine
Permit for access to the Monarch Fan location.
DRMS understand that the above - referenced road section within the GEC Strip Mine may be used to
access a future well site with a drill rig. In addition, maintenance of the ditch system along this road may
be needed to provide adequate drainage control.
If EFCI needs to maintain the above - described road and ditch sections within the GEC Strip Mine permit
area, DRMS will not assert regulatory authority for such road and/or ditch maintenance.
Please be sure that EFCI does not conduct any work within the GEC Strip Mine without first coordinating
with (including securing any necessary agreement for such work) with the landowner.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me at (303) 866 -3567, extension 8113.
Sincerely,
9 V _') Z" '
Robert Zuber, P.E.
Environmental Protection Specialist
OF' COL
0
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http: / /mining.state.co.us
John W.
