The site selected for the aforementioned wells occupy land
southwest of Steamboat Springs in section 8 and 13 TSN, R86W. The proposed activities will
utilize existing County and ranch roads when possible for access.
General Information
The Foidel Creek Mine is an area that has existing facilities from current mining activity.
Existing vegetation is predominantly sagebrush, grassland, mountain shrub, mined and
reclaimed mine. The Twenty Mile Park area has been historically important for greater sage
grouse, Columbian sharp - tailed grouse, elk, mule deer and antelope as well as numerous
small mammals and raptors.
Potential Impacts
The majority of the impacts to wildlife frorn the construction of the proposed wells should be
minimal due to the limited amount of acres disturbed and utilizing existing road for access.
The proposed location for well WCO28 is not within the production areas of Columbian Sharp -
tailed Grouse. However, the proposed location for well WC008A is within a production area.
Construction and activity that fall within production areas should be conducted outside of the
breeding and brood rearing time period ( March 15 -June 30) to minimize potential impacts.
A
Bob D.
