PERMIT #: M -1980 -252
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: MAC
INSPECTION DATE: July 10, 2014
OBSERVATIONS
The inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(Division). The Jefferson Flat Pit is located 1 mile north of Jefferson, Colorado on County Road 35 in Park
County. The site is permitted for 14.5 acres and the post- mining land use is rangeland. The commodity of
interest at the Jefferson Flat Pit is sand and gravel.
The purpose of the inspection was to follow up on several problems which were cited during the previous
inspection conducted on May 28, 2014. In the last inspection the Division observed approximately 6 inches of
exposed groundwater on the pit floor. In addition, the Division observed refuse on the east side of the pit and
found that several of the boundary markers on the eastern perimeter were missing.
The water which was observed during the previous inspection was no longer present on the pit floor; the
entire site was found to be dry. The operator had removed the refuse from the east side of the pit and the
missing boundary markers had been replaced. The Operator has addressed all of the problems and the site
was found to be in full compliance.
This concluded the inspection.
