The test
excavations and installation of initial support will provide the necessary information to evaluate the construction
and support plans and pillar response for the rock - slopes, and confirm the design parameters or provide the
necessary information for modification of the plans to best meet site conditions and constraints. The test
excavations will extend no more than 30 feet below the bottom of the current mine workings in the Wadge Coal
Seam. Dependent on the conditions encountered and the information gained from the test excavations and
initial support installation, TC may then stage critical materials for the subsequent rock -slope construction
activities.
The test excavations, initial support installation, construction/support evaluation, and material staging activities
will all occur underground, within the existing 5 Main North entries, and will not result in any new surface
disturbance or subsidence, therefore, the proposed activities will not affect the reclamation bond. Given that
several surface and underground drillholes in adjacent areas encountered no ground water, and that prior mine
development activities, including construction of mine -water sumps and the collection sump at the bottom of the
nearby 6 Main North Shaft encountered no ground water in the upper portion of the Wadge /Wolf Creek
interburden, the planned test excavation is not expected to intercept or otherwise result in any ground water
impacts.
This submittal includes revised PAP text and maps /drawings addressing the proposed concrete protective
structures. New and revised PAP materials are identified by the enclosed Summary of Revisions /Additions. TC
would like to proceed with this project as soon as possible, therefore, we appreciate your consideration and
cooperation in facilitating timely review and approval. Once you have had opportunity to review the
accompanying information, please feel free to contact me with any questions or to discuss related matters.
Best regards,
Twentymil a LC
.4 _*44
Jerry .
