3.0 RESULTS
The revegetation evaluated for this report comprised approximately 2.9 acres. A total of 13 plant
species were observed within the revegetation evaluated in 2013. These species included four grass
taxa, six forbs, and three shrubs (Table 1). Among these taxa was the noxious weed, Russian knapweed
(Acropti /on repens), located in the northwest corner. The client was notified of the existence of this
noxious weed patch and managerial action to establish control of this undesirable population was
undertaken. Ground cover in the Loadout Facility consisted of 35.4% live vegetation, 2.7% rock, 43.4%
litter, and bare soil exposure of 18.5 %. Perennial species exhibited an average cover of 32.4% while
annual and biennial species exhibited an average cover of 3.0 %. Dominant taxa were forage kochia
( Kochia prostrata), fourwing saltbush (Atriplex canescens), and greasewood (Sarcobatus vermiculatus)
with an average cover of 17.2 %, 11.6 %, and 3.6% respectively.
4.0 CONCLUSIONS
Given the alkaline soils found in the area and proximity to multiple disturbance corridors,
revegetation of the Loadout Facility has progressed very well with an average perennial cover of 32.4 %.
Overall, the Loadout Facility exhibits a stable, shrub and forb- dominated vegetation community that
appears more than capable of supporting numerous post- disturbance land uses.
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, Inc.
