Summary
Based on available information within the literature, the presence of barium within the Niobrara Formation
has been documented near the Boettcher Quarry. In addition, elevated barium concentrations naturally
occur in Niobrara groundwater in the region. For example, an average barium concentration of 18.2 mg /L
was noted for produced water from the Niobrara and Codell units within the Wattenberg Field in Colorado.
