Notes for site visit August 21, 2014: My site visit began at noon. Our first stop was Pond C, efforts were underway again to dewater the pond in an effort to get it cleaned out. Our next stop was gob pile #2. The top of the pile is in better shape than it was two weeks ago, but the rain over the last few weeks has really slowed down progress. Of the windrows that were created when the monsoon's began, all but one has been knocked down and compacted. There has been good progress placing & compacting gob in the TR -76 area, between benches 2/3. There was no gob being hauled to gob pile #2 during my visit, everything was being diverted to gob pile #3 or the gob pile #3 drying area. The west half of gob pile #4 where coverfill has been placed continues to be a work in progress. Final grading will occur this fall when topsoil and seed will be placed. Ditches F19 & 20 had recently been maintained and it appeared that there was positive drainage. Ditch F18 needs to be regraded to provide for better flow to Ditch F -21 -1. At gob pile #3 work has begun on relocating the west coverfill stockpile. Topsoil has been stripped north of the east coverfill stockpile and hauled to stockpile F /F1. The small topsoil stockpile that was north of the east coverfill pile has been relocated to stockpile F /F1. The west coverfill stockpile will be relocated to this newly prepared area, it will be called the "north" coverfill stockpile. Material will be moved from the west coverfill stockpile footprint and stored in the "North" Coverfill stockpile. When the first two benches at gob pile #2 are to final grade, coverfill from the north stockpile will be hauled back to the pile for final reclamation. The underdrain was functional and clean water was flowing from the outlet. A lot of material has been hauled from the drying area and placed and compacted on gob pile #3. 1
