As we discussed on site Jack has now
received a water right (attached) from Maggie Creek to
allow filling of pit 2, 3, and 4. We expect each pond
to fill within 4 to 6 feet of the pit bank top. This will
eliminate the need to respread topsoil (or fines) below
the full water line and the bottoms of the three pits and
also to reseed those areas. In addition reclamation has
been completed on the north and northeast banks of pit 1;
the west, north and a portion of the east bank of pit 2.
The completed hank sloping and seeding of these areas is
far below the expected final water line. Scattered willows
will be planted after this final water line is established.
While pit 1 and pit 2 are still being excavated those
reclaimed areas will remain undisturbed by continued mining.
The current mining plan is to finish excavation of pit 1.
This will be followed by reclamation and obtaining a permanent
well permit. Then pit 2 will be mined, reclaimed and filled
with water. Work will then begin on pits 3 and 4. A time
line for this project is difficult to establish because
the true demand for gravel is unknown. A good estimate
would be 20 to 25 years.
If you need any additional information please feel free
to contact me.
Sincer ly
Charles R.
