PUBLIC NOTICE <br />Seneca Coal Company, 36600 Routt County Road 27, P.O. Box 670, Hayden, Colorado 81639, has <br />filed with the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, an application for Technical <br />Revision (No.53) to the Seneca II Mine, Permit C -80 -005. This technical revision is for <br />termination of the existing water quality monitoring program associated with the approved <br />mining permit. <br />The Seneca II Mine proposes to terminate monitoring on the following sites: <br />• GW -S41 -W <br />• GW- S41 -LW1 <br />• GW -S68 -A <br />• Well SFAL72 (also known as Twentymile Coal Company Well 008 -AU -3) <br />• Stream Site SSF11 <br />• Stream Site SSB12 <br />• Stream Site SSF13 <br />A Phase III application (SL -6) for all remaining disturbance related to mining was submitted on <br />June 1St, 2014 and an inspection of the permit area was completed by the Colorado Division of <br />Reclamation Mining and Safety (CDRMS) on August 18th, 2014. Justification for termination of <br />monitoring is addressed in the Hydrology section of the bond release application and also as a <br />part of TR47 which was approved in 2009 (Attachment 7 -3, Tab 7 of the Seneca II permit <br />document). <br />Following issuance of a final decision from the CDRMS, the wells will be reclaimed and <br />abandonment reports will be submitted with the exception of Well SFAL72 (aka Well 008 -AU -3) <br />which was established as the alluvial ground water point of compliance in TR -47. The well is still <br />currently used as a monitoring site for the Foidel Creek Mine (Twentymile Coal, LLC). <br />The general legal description of the Seneca II Mine Permit Area is described as: <br />• Sections 1 and 12, T5N R87N <br />• Sections 6 and 7, T5N R86W <br />• All west of the 6th Principal Meridian; totaling 271.2 acres. <br />Legal owners of record of the surface of the permit area include: <br />• Colorado, State of (Board of Land Commissioners) <br />The Seneca II Mine is located approximately nine miles southeast of the Town of Hayden, <br />Colorado. The USGS 7.5 Minute Quadrangle Maps of Milner, Colorado, and Mt. Harris, Colorado, <br />contain the described permit area. No change in land use is associated with this revision. <br />A copy of the complete technical revision application is available for public inspection at the <br />Hayden Public Library, 225 E.
