Limited - Results Archaeological Survey Form (Page 4 of 8)
IV. ENVIRONMENT (cont)
21. Ground Visibility: Surface visibility is generally good and averaged 40% in the natural
environments found in the east half of TCW009, all of TCW010, 11 & 12. In the CRP portion of
TWC009, and areas next to drainages, visibility decreased to around 10% or less. TCW008 is in
the floodplain of Fish Creek and visibility was extremely poor (0 %) due to thick grass growth.
The waterline /pipeline segment is also near 0% visibility due to the thick vegetation resulting from
the damp nature of the environment.
22. Comments: Special attention was paid to areas of exposed soils and subsurface contents in
cut banks, eroded areas and rodent backdirt piles. The waterline /pipeline segment follows a
newly constructed road that afforded good views of subsurface contents. \
V. LITERATURE REVIEW
23. Location of File Search: OAHP - Compass online database; GLO records online
Dates: 04/12/2012
24. Previous Survey Activity - In the project area: The core hole drill sites and 300 ft of the
waterline /pipeline route have not been previously surveyed. The remaining portions of the
waterline /pipeline were surveyed during the West Mine Subsidence block survey which covers
portions of Sections 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 in T5N R87W and Sections 17, 18, 19, 20 in T5N
R86W (O'Brien 2007).
In the general region: In addition to the West Mine Subsidence block survey (O'Brien 2007), six
previous inventories have been conducted within sections 27 and 35 (Table 1).
25. Known Cultural Resources - In the project area: No previously recorded archaeological sites or
isolated finds are located within the project boundaries. The 1882 & 1915 GLOs reveal no
historic features within the protect areas.
In the general region (summarize): Three cultural resources have been recorded within the two
sections. All have been evaluated as not eligible and are more than '/4 mile from any of the
survey areas. The 1915 GLO shows a historic fence line in the northern half of section 35 and
an irrigation ditch in the southern portion of section 27. No evidence of either of these features
was encountered during this inventory.
