My comments are listed below, organized by section and question number of JE
Stover's July 10, 2014 letter. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to ask.
2.04.9- Soils Resource Information
18. Item Resolved.
2.04.10 —Vegetation Information
19. Item Resolved.
20. BRL -Rule 2.04.10 requires underground mines to delineate plant communities within the area to be affected
by surface operations or facilities, and within any proposed reference area(s). There is currently no proposed
disturbance in the Spruce Stomp expansion area. Therefore, no vegatation work is required by the Rules.
CDRMS — Bowie 2 has drilled more than 75 gob vent boreholes to support its current mining operations
(Drill Holes —Original Ground Slope Information, Permit page 2.05 -44 & 45) and the permit states that "three
or more gob vent boreholes are required over each longwall panel" (page 2.05 -43). While no disturbance is
being proposed, the Division anticipates that more gob vent boreholes will be needed in future operations
within the Spruce Stomp expansion area. Please take note, that vegetation data that meet the standards of
Rule 2.04. 10 will need to be submitted and approved before future disturbances can be approved.
21. Item Resolved.
2.04.11 —Wildlife Information
22. Item Resolved.
23. BRL - The endangered, threatened and candidate species with the potential to occur on the LBA are listed on
page 2.04 -118. Pages 2.04 -118 and 119 are enclosed. There has not been an on -site T & E survey since no
disturbance on the LBA tract has been proposed or approved?
CDRMS — The Division anticipates that future operations will involve disturbances in the Spruce Stomp
expansion area (see #20 above). Please take note, that a threatened /endangered species survey or block
clearance will need to be submitted and approved before any future disturbances can be approved.
tJF'. 0
yQrj ~
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http: / /mining.state.co.us I *
John W.
