Today was not so good for a photo op of the <br /> construction. The first is the paper copy I gave you today. View is essentially south to north (to the N-NE). 2nd <br /> pic is a close-up of the flow at the head of yesterday's trench (south end). <br /> In the first pic, you will see maybe 3-4 ft. of overburden and that he has only gotten into the top two feet of sand <br /> and gravel (see further north in picture of pinkish material). On 8-13-14, the groundwater elevation was only 5.6 ft. <br /> below the natural ground surface at this location (MH-9). That means that with the O.B. thickness and only <br /> getting into the top 2 ft. of sand and gravel, we are only at the very top of the saturated thickness of the alluvium <br /> at this location at this time. <br /> In the second pic, you will see the flow that is already coming from only the southernmost terminus of the trench <br /> that he his digging as I was taking the photo. (maybe 1/2-1 hr. earlier). This flow is only coming the very top of the <br /> saturated thickness of the alluvium. Get down another 3 ft. plus and you will have much greater flow. <br /> Hope this helps.
