Any mine waste or overburden, generated during mining operations, will be placed on the
adjacent, existing mine waste disposal area. Waste material will be stacked against the sides of
the existing waste dump, across the historic haulage roads approximating the original
topography of the mountain. The broken and angular nature of the rock will provide for
maximum permeability providing good drainage of the waste dumps and minimum water
retention. Elimination of water from the dump should provide for maximum stabilization. The
waste disposal area will be maintained in accordance with good engineering practices and State
laws.
All roads in the permitted area will be maintained to run downhill toward and into the open pit.
Berms, waterbars and properly placed hay bales will insure that any surface water will drain
into the open pit. Because of the highly fractured rock in the open pit, no standing water has
occurred in the last 30 years since its last use.
One small trailer, approximately 8' X 12', will be used for an office for the staff, DRMS and
MSHA. It will not be put on a foundation. Staff parking will be located near the trailer. A
portable toilet will be nearby and maintained by an outside contractor. Fuel will not be stored
at the mine. All fuel will be transported to the mine daily. A minimal amount of water, less
than 100 gallons per day, may be used in the mining and screening of the ore to minimize dust.
If needed, this water will be transported to the mine site daily. Water will be sourced from the
off -site processing plant.
The existing open pit is built into solid bedrock. No soil exists in the open pit or on the waste
dump. The historic waste dumps were reclaimed and seeded by the previous operator. Re-
seeding of the waste dump will be done upon completion of mining activities. A seed mixture
approved by the Bureau of Land Management will be used to reseed the waste dump. The BLM
has not responded to our requests for the recommended seed mixture to use.
A Geotechnical Slope Stability Report on the Crystal Hill Mine submitted to and accepted by
the Mined Land Reclamation Division is attached at the end of Exhibit C and the supporting map
is included as an insert on the Mine Plan map.
