georgerobinson@r2incorporated.com
From: David McLay <davidmclay@comcast.net>
Sent: Monday,June 02, 2014 11:20 AM
To: georgerobinson@r2incorporated.com;Oliver Wesley; pgchang@opalgroupinc.com
Cc: Michael J.Taylor, 'Erich Rauber'
Subject: Road Surface Material Change Request and Retaining Wall Design Revisions
George,Oliver, Paul:
Two Things-
1. Road Surface material: Michael Taylor of Opal Group requested a change in the road surface material from the
2"-minus crushed rock to a 3"-minus aggregate base course material, due to availability. I approved the change
—the 3"-minus material is what CDOT recommends for pavement sub-base.
2. Retaining Wall Design Revisions: Based on the considerations included in the MSE Wall Design Revisions
memorandum (to be provided), I have directed Michael Taylor to place rip-rap in front of the Gravity Wall
section of the Retaining Wall(Station 19+12 to Station 19+04)to a minimum of 3 feet above the base of the wall
at Elevation 8,621 feet. This rip-rap will be an extension of the rip-rap to be placed at the outlet of the retention
pond pipe (invert Elevation 8,625.3 feet). Rock for the rip-rap is currently available onsite from existing material.
David S. McLay
3051 E.
