The
DOE Office of Legacy Management provided oversight on Energy Fuels Resources Corporation
(EFRC)portal closure activities at the New Verde Mine north portal site and determined that the
masonry bulkhead, as repaired by EFRC, provides permanent closure of the portal as required.
DOE conferred with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management Grand Junction, Colorado, Field Office
and the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety concerning the portal closure
activities and both agencies agreed that the bulkhead closure was adequate. During the portal
closure activities, DOE also determined that the site was in stable condition and no other concerns
were noted. Accordingly, DOE acknowledges that EFRC has completed the portal closure
activities in accordance with current environmental requirements and lease stipulations, and herein
releases the reclamation performance bond, Cashier's Check No. 331502276 in the amount of
$5,000.00, back to EFRC (check enclosed).
Please contact me at(720) 880-4347 or David.Shafer(alm.doe.gov, or Ed Cotter of my contractor
staff at(970) 248-6056 with questions or comments.
