Conclusion
Because the cation-anion signature of the May 2014 sample differs significantly from the C-Pit signature, the TDS and
chloride concentration measured in May 2014 are not believed to be reflective of infiltration from C-Pit.
CEMEX will continue to conduct quarterly monitoring of C-Pit,CEM-001,CEM-004,and CEM-005,as required by the permit
and plot the cation-anion signatures using Stiff plots,as a tool for monitoring trends in the chloride and sulfate
concentrations. In addition,CEMEX is working to refine the groundwater monitoring approach for CEM-005 to ensure that
samples are not collected until standard procedures are implemented to obtain water that is representative of the
formation water.
If there are any questions regarding the above information please do not hesitate to contact me at 303-823-2115.
Sincerely,
1" " )
Michael Whitehead
Environmental Manager
Encls.\Summary of Analytical Results(Table 1)
4
