With this <br />revision, the applicant requests <br />approval for drilling up to nine <br />exploration boreholes for the pur- <br />pose of evaluating coal reserves <br />within the approved permit area. <br />The affected land is owned by the <br />State of Colorado. Access to the <br />proposed drill sites will be made <br />by utilizing existing dirt roads. <br />Proposed additional surface dis- <br />turbance is estimated to be 2.1 <br />acres. <br />The King Coal Mine is an under- <br />ground coal mine located in La <br />Plata County, approximately 6 <br />miles SW of Hesperus, Colorado. <br />Coal interest is federal, state and <br />private, and the surface affected <br />is federal, state and private land. <br />The permit area encompasses <br />approximately 2,658.00 acres. <br />This proposed decision is based <br />on a finding that the proposed <br />operation will comply with all <br />requirements of the Colorado <br />Surface Coal Mining Reclamation <br />Act, Section 34 33 101, et seq., <br />C.R.S.' and the regulations pro- <br />mulgated thereunder. <br />Copies of the proposed decision, <br />including stipulations, are on <br />file for public inspection at the <br />Colorado Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety, Room 215, <br />Centennial Building, 1313 <br />Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado <br />80203.
