Results:
The 25 -year 24 -hour storm event of 2.2" was used for all run -off calculations.
Peak flows were calculated using SedCad 4.0.
The calculated peak flow to Pond 9 resulting from the 25 -year 24 -hour storm
event is 0.34 or 153 gpm. Adding the 30 gpm mine water flow brings the total
flow in the spillway to 183 gpm or 0.41 cfs.
Designs are provided for the Pond 9 trapezoidal channel emergency spillway and
the ditch to the refuse pile. The Pond 9 trapezoidal channel transitions into the
refuse pile ditch so flow from Pond 9 is directed to the refuse pond. The Pond 9
trapezoidal emergency spillway channel is earth -lined and designed to carry
short-term infrequent flows at non- erosive velocities. Sustained flows are not
expected. See Drawing D -2 -5 for details.
The water in pond 9 and the refuse pile pond are used by the landowners. The
landowners are adamant in their position that they do not want to waste the water
flowing through the treatment ponds. The landowners want the water stored in
the ponds so it can be used by livestock and wildlife.
ENGINEERS CERTIFICATION
The SedCad calculations and information presented on pages P -9 -12 through P-
9-20 were prepared by me during the moilttfigf May 2014 and the information is
true and correct to the best of k11 ©wtedg'?belief.
Ca
o
•ov,
James E.
