I received the revised laboratory
report on August 1, 2014, after submitting the second quarter 2014 DMRs. The revised
laboratory report indicates the original TDS value of 7,740 mg /L for the 6/19/14 sample
collected at Outfall 002 was in error, and the reanalysis of the same sample yielded a
TDS value of 3,870 mg /L. Accordingly, I have modified both the QRTR AVG value and
DAILY MAX value reported on the original page 2 of the DMR for Outfall 002 (002 -A)
and have enclosed a revised version with this submittal. You will see the two revised
TDS numbers are highlighted in yellow on the enclosed revised page 2 of the DMR for
Outfall 002.
I have attached a copy of my July 25, 2014 email to Scott Habermehl and his August 1,
2014 reply concerning my request to have ACZ Laboratories re- analyze TDS on the
6/19/14 sample collected at Outfall 002. I have also attached copies of pertinent pages
from the August 1, 2014 revised lab report including the Case Narrative Page and
Inorganic Analytical Results for NPDES2 collected on 6/19/14. On the Case Narrative
page, you will see ACZ Labs explanation regarding the original TDS value reported in
Item 2 (yellow highlight). I've also highlighted the data result for TDS that was
determined by ACZ Labs when they re- analyzed the sample Please call me at 928 -913-
9218, or email me at jcochran @peabodyenergy.com if you have any questions.
t ere y, Cochran
ody Energy
