RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT E (cont)
WEED CONTROL
The revegetated areas will be monitored closely each spring for
the first two years to determine if weeds are invading the area .
Weed control is supplied in the Appendix of this packet to
address weed control on the mine . Total eradication of weeds
from the site is not necessary desirable, so the operator will be
using controls on the noxious weeds and letting the rest grow in
select areas .
IRRIGATION
No irrigation is planned for revegetated area in the pit, it
tends to make the vegetation dependent on water and does not
promote a vegetation cover that is diverse and capable of self
regeneration. The landowner may wish to irrigate the slopes with
water they have available for that purpose .
WETLANDS
There are wetlands on the site around the perimeters of the
existing water bodies in Phase 1 . Prior to disturbing the
wetland areas a Corps of Engineers 404 permit will be obtained.
TREES
All existing trees will be removed from the mining area on the
site prior to mining beginning. In the areas accessible, atten-
tion will be given to removing and controlling the Russian Olives
on the permit area . Tree planting is not part of this plan but
the landowners may wish to add trees and shrubs in selected areas
as the mine is reclaimed.
RECLAMATION PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
The property will be mined in compliance with the Reclamation
Performance Standards of Rule 6 . Grading will be performed to
create a final topography that is compatible with the intended
final land use . Final external slopes will be graded 3h to lv or
less as provided for in the Rules and Regulations . The RECLAMA-
TION PLAN MAP shows how the area will be reclaimed.
Imported fill materials will be used to fill the excavated area
and level the property. This material may consist of broken
concrete or other materials suitable for that purpose . It will
be "Inert Material" as defined by the Colorado Department of
17
