EXHIBIT D
MINING PLAN AND TIMETABLE
LOCATION
The property is located in Adams County approximately 3 . 8 miles
southeast of Thornton, Colorado. The land to the west is part of
an old gravel pit operated by Aggregate Industries which is
currently a water storage reservoir for the City of Thornton.
The land to the north was mined and partially backfilled with
inert material , to the east is developed commercial land and
Interstate 76 . The southern side is located along East 88th Ave .
with commercial uses across the road. In the southwest corner
the mine adjoins a Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife
complex that includes a service dog training facility.
Please refer to EXHIBITB -VICINITY MAP for the property configuration
and the relationship to surrounding geological features .
CURRENT CONDITIONS
The permit area will cover a 53 . 17 acre ± parcel with a site
elevation of approximately 5100 feet, sea level datum. This area
has 4 distinct land types that have been developed over the
years . The upper terrace (level area) ; the lower terrace and
hillside, the old gravel mine (Pre-Law) and the old fish hatchery
area. The northwest portion (old gravel mine) was mined in the
late 1960 ' s and two small sand piles were left along the north
side of the lake that resulted. South of the old mine area is
the remains of an old DOW fish hatchery, an equipment parking
area, an old shop building and sheds . This area has been highly
disturbed in the past . East of the old mine area (lower terrace)
is where the original owners used for rural residential and
general farm yard uses and included, a house, a garage and yard
area. It also includes the exposed gravel escarpment that is a
transition zone from the upper terrace to the lower level . The
upper terrace along the east portion of the permit area has had
may uses over they years . Many of them detrimental to the land
and included uses as a pasture for buffalo and other livestock.
The most recent being a sod farm that has virtually removed any
topsoil that was on the mine but there is a layer of overburden
that can be salvaged and used at growth medium. We estimate
there will be enough to respread 8 to 12 inches on the areas
needing seeding. The lower terrace around the house also has a 2
to 3 foot deep layer of material that will be salvaged and used
for growth medium. Topsoil salvaged from Stage 2 will be placed
along the east and south sides of the stage creating berms that
will limit visibility into the mine .
3
