PERMIT#: M-2002-094
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: DMC
INSPECTION DATE:July 9, 2014
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety's (Division) normal monitoring
program. A representative for the operator was not present during this inspection. Photographs are included with this
report in order to illustrate some of the conditions observed.
The Allen Pit is located approximately 1.5 miles southwest of Redvale and accessed from 37 Road. The site is a 112c
operation that includes a total of 51.5 permitted acres. The Division currently holds a financial warranty amount of
$72,400.00 for this site. The Division updated the reclamation cost estimate for this site in 2012. The financial warranty
amount is still considered adequate.
Adequate mine identification signage was noted at the entrance to the site.
The affected area was marked by fencing and posts that were clearly visible and adequate to delineate the affected area
boundary.
Evidence of recent mining activity was not evident. According to the operator's annual reports, activity on site has been
limited to stockpile removal. The open pit covers approximately two acres in the north part of the permit area. The
stockpile area south of the pit includes approximately 6-7 acres of disturbance. Pit slopes are left at near vertical to
0.5H:l V slopes. There was no water observed in the pit.
There has been no evident reclamation completed at the site. Vegetation over the disturbed areas consists mostly of weed
species. The operator appears to be complying with the approved weed control plan though. Noxious weeds were not
observed.
No problems or violations were noted during this inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Dustin Czapla at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3`1 Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone number
(970)243-6299.
