The first occurred in a sample collected at Outfall 004 on
April 21. The second excursion occurred in a sample collected at Outfall 004 on May 7.
Attached to this cover letter are emails which discuss the details of each excursion and
copies of lab reports from ACZ Laboratories for the samples collected on April 21 and
May 7. These emails also served as our five day notices to the WQCD.
Sage Creek believes seasonal snowpack and subsequent springtime snowmelt runoff
caused both of these excursions of the selenium effluent limit as described in the attached
emails. And, selenium analyses in samples collected at the Site SSC6, located at the
lower end of the wetland established below Outfall 004 on the same day of each reported
excursion indicate the receiving stream concentrations of selenium were below the
standard of 4.6 ug/L.
No other excursions of DMR limits occurred during the second quarter of 2014. Please
call me at 928- 913 -9218, or email me at jcochran @peabodyenergy.com, if you have any
questions.
Si er y, 1 cor
Cochran
abody Energy
3 01 W.
