COLORADO
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
July 29, 2014
Forrest Luke
Trapper Mining, Inc
P.O. Box 187
Craig, CO 81626
RE: Trapper Mining, Inc., Permit C- 1981 -010
Permit Revision PR -07; Adequacy Review No. 4
Dear Mr. Luke:
The Division received Trapper Mining's response to the 2nd and 3rd adequacy review letters on July 8,
2014. The Division has reviewed the response and the proposed revisions and have several additional
items that will need to be addressed prior to the approval of PR -07. For clarity, the Division used the
original adequacy review letter format and included Trapper's responses to the adequacy items; previous
items that have been resolved were omitted.
Rule 2.04; Minimum Requirements for Information on Environmental Resources:
2.04.3 Site Description and Land Use Information:
2. Please submit a map in accordance with Rule 2.043(2)(a) that depicts the uses of land for the
additional permit acreage in accordance with the land use categories established in the land use
definitions in Rule 1.04.
a. Trapper's Response: Map M28, referenced on page 2 -170, is revised to include the
additional permit acreage. All of the new acreage is included in "Rangeland" and 'Wildlife
Habitat" land uses.
b. Division's Response: Using the Web Soil Survey on the Natural Resources Conservation
Service website, the Division conducted a Farmland Classification check to determine if
any area within the PR7 expansion area could be considered prime farmland. It does not
appear prime farmland areas exist within the proposed expansion area. However, as a
result of that inquiry, the Division identified a soil unit (Unit 99; Hesperus Fine Sandy
Loam) that has a rating of "Farmland of Statewide Importance ". Enclosed with this letter
are the results of the web soil survey for the farmland classification of the PR7 expansion
area.
Revised Map M28 — Lands Use Map (Identification of Lands Possibly Used for Farming
Prior to Mining), was revised and the permit boundary was updated.
