rINME1
STATE OF
js k ICOLORADO
State.co.us Executive Branch Mail - Fwd: EFCI MWNW
Please add this to laserfiche.
Southfield
Enforcement and General Docs
to DRMS from Dr. Corley
Comment on MWNW
6/25/14
---- - - - - -- Forwarded message ---- - - - - --
From: Berry - DNR, David <da\Ad.berry@state.co.us>
Date: Wed, Jun 25, 2014 at 11:37 AM
Subject: Re: EFCI MWNW
To: "W D Corley, Jr." <ajjc att.net>
Dr. Corley - Thank you for your message.
David
On Wednesday, June 25, 2014, W D Corley, Jr. <ajjc att.net> wrote:
David Berry,
The Corley Company has the largest acreage of all of the landowners affected by the Southfield Mine. In the
past we have talked and communicated with your Division about the MWNW monitoring well, and we would
like to clarify our position on this issue. We have carefully studied the implications of the MWNW current
status. We believo that the two water injection tests sufficiently demonstrate that this well will provide
sufficient monitoring capability for the presence or absence of water in the mine void. The basis for that
statement is that the approximate twenty feet of the partial obstruction above the mine floor is probably
insignificant when compared with over a thousand feet of mine floor elevation difference from the deepest to the
highest part of the mine. We want to stress that point because the mine void pitches and is not close to being
in a horizontal plane. In addition it is completely unknown how the many mine and panel seals will affect water
levels in different parts of the mine. We want to go on record to suggest that EFCI be allowed to monitor the
MWNW at the point above the obstruction.
Doug Corley, Pres.
The Corley Company
https: / /mail.g oog le.conVmai I /u /0 / ?ui =2 &i Ire29129fcb5 &\iev-- pt &search =i nbox&th= 146f972ee2948b94 &si ml= 146f972ee2948b94 1 /1
