2.05.3
The Operator developed main entries (1 West Mains) under Terror Creek
during 2010 in order to access the coal reserves to the west. On September
20, 2010 the DRMS approved and incidental permit boundary revision
through TR -68. This 80 acre permit boundary expansion allowed the
Operator to begin developing mains, headgate entries and tailgate entries
west of Terror Creek.
The coal reserves located west of Terror Creek are referred to as the
western mining district. Longwall panels in the western mining district are
numbered B -10 through B -20. The western mining district will require a new
ventilation shaft and three or more gob vent bore holes per panel. Permit
Revision No. 12 (PR -12) gave the Operator approval to develop and mine in
the western mining district west of Terror Creek.
The Operator expanded the western mining district to the north as shown on
Map 14B and has acquired two lease modifications so it can mine four
additional longwall panels. Technical revision 71 allowed north mains and
gate road development within the approved permit boundary. Permit revision
13 expands the permit boundary to encompass the two lease modification
areas and four longwall panels (1317, B18, 1319 and B20). The longwall
panels located west of panel 14 were rotated 90 degrees. Two east west
oriented longwall panels replace four north south panels in the area.
During 2009 the Operator washed coal for West Elk Coal Company,
(WECC). WECC hauled raw E -Seam coal to BRL's lower stockpile area.
The Operator ran WECC's coal through the preparation plant. WECC
delivered 521,625 tons of raw coal to the Operator's lower stockpile area.
The Operator washed this coal producing 351,601 tons of clean coal. The
waste material generated was hauled back to WECC's disposal area by a
WECC contractor. The Operator loaded and shipped 351,601 tons of clean
coal for WECC. This process took place from January 14, 2009 through
September 13, 2009.
The following table shows the major equipment to be used in the mine and
on the surface.
PR -13 2.05-8- 08129/12
