Too/Tq-K 76
STATE OF
COLORADO
Pics of New Trench from Lake to River-Speer
Rob Laird <RobL@asphaltspecialties.com> Wed, Jul 2, 2014 at 10:38 AM
To: "O'Donnell - DNR, Tyler (tyler.odonnelI@state.co.us)" <tyler.odonnelI@state.co.us>
Tyler:
Please see attached. They are numbered from 1 thru 4.
1. Head of new trench to the north of the trench/culvert that you viewed earlier in June. This from the lake edge.
Note the visible lowering of the water in the trench from when it was first opened-up.
2. Outlet of new trench as it enters the Platte River. Note the flow at easily 500 gpm. If necessary, it looks as if
the trench could even be lowered another 18 inches. I would have to check that against the average elevation of
the river flow.
3. Photo of lake edge to north showing driftwood left high and dry due to rapid lowering of the lake earlier this
month due to the new trench. At least 2 ft. of lowering.
4. Photo of downstream flow of the culvert under the haul road from the dewatering trench (temp French drain
trench)from Brighton Rd. Note increase in flow and lowering of water elevation in trench.
I have to assume that this evidence and these measures have lowered the mounded groundwater upgradient from
our operation and has left the Kirby basement dry. Thanks for your attention to this matter.
