C O L O R A D O yl / RECEIVFn
Division of Water Resources
Department of Natural Resources 'A I -1'
Division of keciamatior;,
1313 Sherman Street, Room 821 Mining&Safety
Denver, CO 80203
Response to Reclamation Permit Amendment Application Consideration
DATE: July 1, 2014
/TO: Elliott R. Russell, Environmental Protection Specialist
CC: Division 1 Office, District 64 Water Commissioner
FROM: Sarah Brucker, P.E.
RE: Kokes Gravel Pit, File No. M-1978-249
Operator: Logan County
Contact: Chad Wright, (970) 522-3426
Section 34, Twp 12 North, Rng 49 West, 6th P.M., Logan County
CONDITIONS FOR APPROVAL
® The proposed operation does not anticipate exposing groundwater. Therefore, exposure of
ground water must not occur during or after mining operations.
COMMENTS: The application seeks an amendment to add 12.15 acre to the currently permitted 20.1
acres, for a total permit area of 32.25 acres. The amendment is sought as a result of a resurvey to bring
the existing pit inbounds for reclamation.
The primary commodity mined at the site is gravel. The site is proposed to be reclaimed to its pre-
mining land use of rangeland.
No groundwater is anticipated to be exposed at the site, and no use of water was identified as either a
part of mining operations or reclamation operations. If water is proposed to be used at the site for any
purpose, the applicant will need to document that the water was obtained from a legal source, or
diverted in priority under a water right decreed for such industrial use.
The applicant may contact the State Engineer's Office with any questions.
1313 Sherman Street, Room 821, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3581 F 555.555.5555 www.water.state.co.us
