2014 <br /> HUERFANO COUNTY GOVERNMENT <br /> LONE TREE PIT <br /> Gravel Pit <br /> Section III <br /> Ecological Site Information <br /> The ecological sites for the Gravel pit area include: Loamy Plains and Shaley Plains. The <br /> Pit area is split about evenly between the two ecological sites which have similar plant <br /> community for the two sites. <br /> The plant community of the gravel pit area is a mix of grasses and forbs primarily with <br /> some shrub species. Grasses account for 90-95%of the plant community while shrubs <br /> and forbs make up the balance. The grasses commonly present on this site include: <br /> blue grama, western wheatgrass, side oats grama,indian ricegrass, sand dropseed, needle <br /> and thread,green needlegrass, little bluestem and alkali sacaton on the Shaley Site. <br /> Forbs and shrub community commonly occurring are: scarlet globemallow,broom <br /> snakeweed,winterfat, Indian paintbrush,hairy goldaster, purple prairie clover, four-wing <br /> salt brush sumac and other assorted forbs &shrubs may be present. <br />
