G E I .
May 30,2014
Eric Scott
Colorado Division of Reclamation,Mining, and Safety
1313 Sherman St.,Room 215
Denver,CO 80203
Re: Martin Marietta Materials,Inc. Three Bells Mine Construction Material Regular
(112)Operation Reclamation Permit M-1979-191 Amendment
Dear Mr. Scott,
This letter is intended to inform you that GEI Consultants, Inc. (GEI)has prepared a Construction
Material Regular(112)Operation Reclamation Permit Amendment package for Martin Marietta
Materials,Inc. (MMM)Three Bells Mine. The attached amendment package has been submitted on
behalf of MMM.
The Three Bells Mine is located approximately one half mile north and three miles west of
Windsor,Colorado.
MMM has operated the Three Bells Mine since 2013,when operation ownership changed from
Lafarge North America to MMM. The land mined under the Three Bells Mine operation is owned
by River Bluff Ventures,LLC.
The attached permit amendment application addresses revised mine permit boundaries and updated
reclamation plans. The Affected Land described in the M-199-191 permit amendment
encompasses the entire Three Bells Mine, and thus should be the revised permit boundary. Areas
included in the historical permit boundary described in previous communications with the DRMS
have not been affected by MMM mining activates and MMM requests that these areas be released
from the M-1979-191 permit.
The updated reclamation plan has been changed to Developed Water Storage in lined below grade
reservoirs.
Ms.Julie Mikulas is the operator's representative at MMM,but please direct all correspondence to
Jeremy Deuto,GEI by email or phone. My contact information is provided below:
Jeremy Deuto, GEI Consultants, Inc.
2625 Redwing Dr., Suite 370
Fort Collins,CO 80526
(303)775-2063—mobile phone
(970)224-7343—office phone
Please contact me if you have any questions,
Sincerely,
Jeremy Deuto,PG,EIT
www.geiconsultants.com GEI Consultants,Inc.
4601 DTC Boulevard,Suite 900,Denver,CO 80237
303.662.0100 fax:303.662.8757
