EXHIBIT D Mining Plan
a) The mining is currently taking place within the existing 110 permit boundaries. That
area will be expanded as soon as possible after a permit is obtained. The operation will
provide material for road operations. The pit will continue to operate annually. The
supply is undetermined, but it is expected to last indefinitely because of the limited use
of the pit. This should be classified as an intermediate pit.
b) The pit boundaries are much larger than the anticipated area to be mined. This will give
the county latitude in where stockpiles can be placed.
c) The mining plan is to continue removal of sand and gravel within the confines of the
banks of the creek bed beginning at the east edge of the pit area (200'west of the
property line) and proceeding west within the banks of the creek until the creek hits a
point 200' east of the west property line of the SW%of Section 2,T7N, R45W. Mining
close to the west and east ends will stay back 200' from the roadway and the adjoining
property owner. Mining on each end of the pit will be sloped 7:1 to avoid erosion when
flood waters enter or exit the pit area. Excavation will continue as the need for gravel
continues for local road operations and, as the supply remains available. There is
currently no topsoil in the creek bed itself. There is topsoil in the areas outside the
creek bed which is 4-5" in depth. Any disturbed banks along the creek will be stripped
and stockpiled for later use in re-vegetation. Any topsoil stockpile will be seeded with
brome grass to prevent soil erosion. There would appear to be no waste rock or
material at the site.
d) Mining is anticipated to a depth of 20' inside the creek bed. The mining began at the
east end of the pit and proceed west. No slopes will be left greater than 3:1.
e) Access is available off County Road 24. A short access trail runs from Co. Rd. 24 north to
the creek. As mining moves to the west edge of the pit, access will be directly onto Co.
Rd. 33 at the southwest corner of the property. There will be no shop, plant, or other
facilities located at the mine site. The equipment used to mine the gravel will be a
front-end loader, dozer, and trucks. There will be stockpiling of material at the site.
Stockpiles will be placed in line with the drainage flow line that runs through the area
and along the edges of the pit. The anticipated stockpile areas are shown on the mining
plan. No processing of material is anticipated at the site.
f) There are no existing disturbances to describe at the site.
g) There will be direct access from the pit onto county roads. No new roads will be
required.
h) No water is anticipated in conjunction with the operation. Groundwater is well below
the anticipated depth of mining. We will commit to keeping all mining efforts at least
Haynes Hereford Ranch Pit Page 3
