Consequently revegetation success for Phase III in BRB -5
relative to the Sagebrush Reference Area is demonstrated.
Since the herbaceous production of BRB -5 has been shown to exceed both reference areas via the
above hypothesis tests, revegetation success is indicated for herbaceous production in 2011.
WOODY PLANT DENSITY
Figure C -3 and C-4 graphically presents the "Background" and "Concentration Area" woody plant density
averages for the 2011 BRB -5, respectively. As can be seen, the 554.4 stems per acre observed in the
Background area far exceed the 90 stems per acre (90 percent of the 100 stems per acre background
standard) performance standard. The mean of 2,035.6 stems per acre observed in the Concentration
areas also well exceeds the 900 stems per acre (90 percent of the 1,000 stems per acre background
standard) performance standard. The total Concentration Area identified was 19.0 acres, or 7.1% of the
BRB -5 (269.3 acres). Hence the standard that there would be at least 5% of the Phase III BRB block with
at least 1,000 stems per acre has been met for 2011.
A reverse t-test of the assertion that the 2011 BRB -5 Background woody plant density is indistinguishable
from 90% of the standard is as follows:
22
