I spoke on the phone yesterday with Rob Laird of Asphalt Specialties. He
described an excavation they had done this week near the outlet of their pond, next to the South Platte River.
The excavation was done in an effort to steepen the fall from the pond to the river, so that the trench will flow
more freely into the pond and prevent groundwater from backing up to your property. We will ask the operator
about the lag time we're seeing between the time of the excavation and the time when the groundwater level on
your property will occur. Also, we are evaluating the need to do additional work to lower the groundwater level
upgradient from the mine site.
Tom
[Quoted text hidden]
