The mineral estate is both privately held and administered by the
Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Tres Rios Field Office (TRFO). The exploration drilling is needed
to determine coal quality and volumes for possible future expansion of existing GCC Energy, Inc. (GCC)
operations at the King II Mine. The exploration will help determine quality, location, and thickness of
coal. The exploration area is northwest of the existing King II Mine and is approximately 5,570 acres. A
total of 19 drill sites are proposed within the exploration area, and 5 drill sites proposed within the
currently proposed lease modification area, for a total of 24 drill hole locations. It is possible that not all
24 locations will be drilled. Provided in Appendix A is the Exploration Project Area Map showing the
location of all proposed drill site locations; the majority of which are located immediately off existing
roads.
Federal Coal Exploration Plan
May 2014
1
