r• RECOMMENDATIONS
( Since rocks and fragments play a large role in the quality of a soil for revegetation work, much
of the soils of the azea may be ignored for revegetation. Those soils represented by numbers
I, 2 and 3 (Woodlands silt loam, Meadow silty clay loam and Slope silty clay loam) should be
stockpiled for future utilization. They are relatively deep and defined, and are of good quality.
Their "C" horizons aze very rocky (mostly > 5096) and should be avoided for stockpiling.
Where physically possible, areas represented by 3 should be considered for stockpiling;
however, these areas are small and quite rocky. They aze scattered along roadways which
should facilitate access to them.
Fertility characteristics show a need for fertilizer amendments of nitrogen and phosphorus to
assist revegetation efforts. After establishment of the vegetation, additional amounts of fertilizer
should not be needed. About 40 pounds per acre each of nitrogen and phosphorus should be
added to the soils. Any available source of the fertilizer elements may be used, such as
ammonium sulfate (2140 N} and 0-45-0 (45 % PzO~. The fertilizers should be worked into the
soils for optimum availability.
CONCLUSIONS
The Woodlands and Meadow soils of the area to be disturbed are of an excellent quality and
~. suitable texture for revegetation purposes. Those areas denoted by 1, 2 and 3 on the map should
be the only soils considered for revegetation. Fertilizer additions will aid in establishing new
vegetation when needed.
Respectfully Submitted By:

Daniel F.
