In the subsequent inspection report dated December 4, 2013, we were notified
that the overburden /topsoil stockpile located in Phase 2 was to be removed by May 30, 2014. The
purpose of this letter is to request an extension to June 27, 2014, for completing that work.
There are a number of reasons why we have been unable to remove the pile by the anticipated May
30th date.
1. Pueblo has experienced an unusual amount of snow and rain over the past five months,
producing moisture amounts and muddy conditions that have prevented normal operations. Year
to date precipitation is 3.80 inches, compared to 1.93 inches for the same period last year, an
increase of approximately 96 %.
2. Frequent high wind and gusty conditions have delayed operations, as dirt moving during such
conditions could result in excessive dust generation. Please reference highlighted max wind
speeds on attached National Weather Service documents.
3. Transit Mix originally underestimated the pile's density and, as such, the project is requiring
additional time, personnel and equipment.
Thank you for considering this request to extend the pile removal deadline by four weeks. If you
have questions, please feel free to call me at 719- 475 -0700.
S' rely,
1` a
er Id Schnabel, President
cc: Mike Morgan
John Crowley
Mark Klune
Andre Laroche
CAME P.O.
