Stadjuhar
RE: Well permit applications for Western Fuels - Colorado LLC - New Horizon North
Mine Facilities
Dear Megan:
Please find attached three well permit applications that we are submitting on behalf of
Western Fuels- Colorado, LLC (WFC) for three dewatering wells, located along the
southern boundary of the New Horizon North Mine (NHN), in Division 4 in Montrose
County. Along with dewatering of the excavation site, the wells may be used for
industrial uses related to the mining operations, including dust suppression. The subject
wells are referenced in the renewal request for a Substitute Water Supply Plan (SWSP),
submitted by Mr. Wayne Schieldt of Water Resource Solutions, LLC on February 28,
2013. However, we are seeking well permits approved in accordance with the non -over
appropriated river basin status.
Included in this well permit application package is a map showing the approximate
location of the proposed dewatering wells as well as several attachments referenced in the
well permit applications. As part of the well permitting process, we reviewed the master
well list for 600 foot well spacing issues. One well found on the State's AQUAMAP tool
is a domestic well under permit number 9079. Upon reviewing the well permit file,
however, the documentation indicates that the well is actually located in the NW1 /4 of
the NE1 /4 of Section 25 of Township 47N , Range 16W of the N.M. P.M., making this
well not within 600 feet of the proposed dewatering wells subject in this application. No
other wells were determined to be within 600 feet.
www.bbawatcr.corn 333 Nest Iiatnpdcn Avenue, Suite 1050 Enf;lewood, Colorado 80110 phonc 303.806.8952 fax 303.806.8953
