NPDES discharge <br />NPDES permit COG- <br />The Seneca II -W Mine discharged from Ponds 005, 006, 015, <br />limitations <br />0000221 <br />016 and 017 throughout 2013, Site 009 did not flow during <br />2013. One exceedance for the monthly average total <br />recoverable iron limit (1 mg /1) occurred at Outfall 016 during <br />the month of April 2013 with a monthly average of 1.84 mg /1. <br />Although the 1.84 mg /l is above the total monthly limit for <br />iron, Peabody Energy reports that the ambient -based <br />seasonal standard was changed in 2010 to 3.04 mg /l for the <br />months of March and April. The seasonal standard is not in <br />the current NPDES permit as the permit is currently under <br />administrative extension as a part of the NPDES renewal <br />process. <br />Based on a Memorandum of Understanding between the <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety and the Water <br />
