3 -4
d(ii) The area of the McClane Canyon watershed is approximately 483 acres.
That portion of the permit area which will not be reclaimed to AOC is
approximately 2 acres or 0.41 % of the total. Since the disturbance is so
small relative to the total area involved, no effect to the total volume of
flows is anticipated.
(d)(iii) It is assumed that DRMS is the only agency that will review the plan. If
however, additional agencies become involved, there should be no
objections to the plan because there are really no other environmentally
sound ways to reclaim the area.
(e) The mine site is located on Federal Coal Lease # C- 0125439. The US
Bureau of Land Management, Grand Junction Resource Area has
reviewed the plans for reclamation of the mine site and have requested
that the Operator be allowed to reclaim the area as shown on the plans.
The letter of request is contained in Appendix K.
(f) Responses to all requirements of 4.27.4 are detailed below.
(g) The Operator will comply with all requirements of the Act, the regulatory
program and the rules of the Division, including but not limited to 2.06.5
and 4.27.4.
RULE 4.27.4
(1) No highwall remnant is proposed. Cliffs above the portals existed prior to
mining were not disturbed except to scale unstable portions for safety
reasons. Demonstrations that postmining slope stability will exceed a
safety factor of 1.3 are contained earlier in this section.
(2) As demonstrated earlier in this section, hydrologic impact will be minimal.
MR -50 M`- Volume 1 (Rev 04/14)
