1 -3
The underground activity being conducted by Grand Valley is planned to allow
subsequent reclamation in an environmentally sound manner. This document explains in
detail the plan of mining and reclamation with baseline environmental studies providing
the basis for the preparation of these plans. The area will be returned to land use equal to
or higher than currently exists, after a valuable natural resource has been extracted.
1988 PERMIT RENEWAL
During the later portion of 1987, Sheridan Enterprises, Inc. transferred its interest
in Loma Mining Company to Mack Fuel Supply, Inc. Sheridan had been the managing
partner of Salt Creek Mining Company as well as the original operator of the Loma
Project. Mack Fuel Supply, Inc. now holds 100% of the stock of Salt Creek Mining
Company through its subsidiaries. Salt Creek Mining Company will remain the operator
of the project and the individual mines. All ownership information is detailed in
Appendix "A ".
An attempt has been made to replace all references to Sheridan Enterprises, Inc.
in this document. Inadvertent reference to Sheridan still existing should be interpreted as
reference to the succeeding operator, Salt Creek Mining Company.
During the permit term from July 5, 1985 to July 5, 1988 Salt Creek was not
successful in marketing coal but remained committed to the development of the Loma
Project including both McClane and Munger Canyon Mines. All permits and
authorizations were kept current and the mines were maintained properly. Numerous
compliance inspections occurred at the mines (both DRMS and OSM), with no citations
issued. In general, the mines were maintained so that resumption of mining and project
development could continue with minimum delay once a market for the coal was
established.
MR -50 McVolume 1 (Rev. 04/14)
