April 2014 26 10381640A
contact with the CKD from area A2 is currently being monitored in the other downgradient
wells.
Furthermore, based on the low hydraulic conductivity and slow groundwater velocities of the formations
beneath the Site, it is concluded that CKD leachate migration to the eastern permit boundary would
require more than 450 years, even without accounting for constituent sorption by bedrock materials.
Therefore, CKD leachate will not travel beyond the permitted boundary or be received by any off -Site
receptors for centuries, if ever.
Based on these findings, Golder recommends that:
1. Site reclamation liability be released based on groundwater considerations;
2. Holcim and the DRMS discuss possible additional groundwater monitoring at the Site for
information purposes, but not based on site reclamation liability requirements;
3. If Holcim and the DRMS agree on additional groundwater monitoring at the Site for
information purposes, then implement annual sampling of Site groundwater monitoring
wells; and
4. The analyte list be modified to only include alkalinity, chloride, pH, TDS, sulfate, and
dissolved barium, boron, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, and sodium
in a possible informational groundwater monitoring program.
GOLDER ASSOCIATES INC.
/ara Harkins
Project Geologist
4. ✓Y! 4A-4 C.r
Randy March, P.E., P.G.
Principal Geological Engineer
SH /JA/RM /ds
t
n
Jroe -Alexa
ject Scientist
is \10 \81640a\ 0400 \g\ har ilinstallfieldrep _fnl- 30apr14\10381640a gmharrpt _holcim- boettcher_fnl- 28apr14- wth holcim edits. docx
Golder
Associates
