RL(e 1: Permits
• This process continues and additional contour cuts aze taken on the coal seams through the R or
Ciruela Seam. A contour cut on the lowest seam will be kept approximately 300 ft in advance of
the main mining area. The material from this contour cut is pushed or hauled in adjacent fills. A
solid berm is left along the outcrop to keep material from going down slope in areas not adjacent
to valley fills or spoil transportation zones. A second contour cut is taken on the exposed this cut
will be pushed or hauled to adjacent valley fills. The contour cuts will be repeated until a core is
left in the center of the ridge. Material from these cuts will be pushed, cast, or hauled to adjacent
areas on the bench of the lowest seam and the outslopes graded to approximate final contours.
Material from the core will be pushed, cast, or hauled to adjacent azeas on the bench. A portion
of this material will be rehandled to expose and recover the lower coal seams. When the lowest
coal seam is recovered, the spoil on the bench will be pushed with dozers to achieve the final
contours and covered with topsoil or suitable material. This process will continue until an east
and west face is established on both sides of the ridge.
Figure 2.05.3-5 illustrates the location of the temporazy office and parts trailers.
•
•
Page 2.05-5 and Sa Aule 2 Permits.doc 2,05-5a (revised 02/ 19/03)
