§2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND <br />MINING ACTIVITIES -- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION <br />AND RECLAMATION PLANS. <br />2.05.4 Reclamation Plan <br />(2) (e) (v) <br />To date, the Operator has not used irrigation and does not intend to <br />in the future. If any disease or pest control is necessary, the <br />Operator will use appropriate methods as recommended by <br />appropriate professionals. <br />This weed control plan is concerned with the control of all varieties of <br />noxious weeds on the mine site. It was developed in coordination <br />with Webb Callicutt, Coordinator, Delta County Noxious Weed <br />Program (872-211U)." Noxious weeds of concern iri the general <br />location of the Bowie No. 1 Mine permit area are; 1) Russian <br />knapweed, Musk, Canadian and Scotch thistle, Houndstounge, <br />Oxeye Daisy, Burdock and Yellow toadflax. <br />Yellow toadflax can be spayed anytime it is discovered. Spay with <br />Banvel, 1.5 oz/gal. <br />All of the other noxious weeds will be sprayed with Curtail, 2.0 <br />• oz/gallon mixed with anon-ionic surfactant at 1 quart per 100 gallons <br />of spray. It will not be applied when spray particles may be carried by <br />air currents to areas where desirable plants are growing. Spraying <br />should be performed when temperatures are under 80° F. Spraying <br />will be done by use of a backpack spray system or an ATV mounted <br />spray tank. Redeem mixed at 1.5 o~Jgallon is also an acceptable <br />herbicide. <br />Oxeye Daisy can be spayed in the spring in the eady flower stage. <br />Houndstounge should be spayed in the spring in the early flower <br />stage. <br />Musk, Canadian and Scotch thistle should be spayed in the spring <br />during late bud to early flower. <br />Russian knapweed should be sprayed in the spring and fall. Fall <br />treatment is also appropriate for thistle rosetts and Canadian thistle. <br />Burdock can be sprayed anytime. Mechanical removal is effective. <br />The Operator commits to performing aggressive weed control during <br />the operations and reclamation phases of the operation. <br />Persons who perform weed control on BLM or USFS managed lands <br />will be licensed. <br />02/06 <br />r1~_I~o2, 74 <br />A PPi'. o v6D <br />3/6/ti6 <br />
