April 21, 2014 C- 1996 - 084 /Lorencito Canyon Mine LDS
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:
At the time of the inspection two permitting actions were progress:
RN-3 - The decision to approve RN3 has been approved. The renewal will be issued at the end of the public
comment period barring unforeseen circumstances.
TR18 - The proposed decision due date has been extended to June 1, 2014. The Division is awaiting a response to
the adequacy letter of May 29, 2013.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The Division is still waiting on the Annual Reclamation Report for 2013.
REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15
Vegetative Cover; Timing:
Lots of new growth was evident, particularly on the fill terraces. Alfalfa continues to thrive around the
site, despite being heavily cropped by deer and elk.
The gas company had done some recent re- seeding of some of their well pads. They had broadcast seed
and then mulched with straw, before hydro- seeding over the top. Although the initial investment must have been
significant, the mulch had stayed in place throughout high winds and it could be that the success rate justifies the
cost. In any case, the re- seeded pads are worth monitoring for reference.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED
N/A
OTHER (SPECIFY)
N/A
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 6
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
Page 4 of 17
